18 U.S. service members have been killed during Iran war. Here’s where.
On Friday, two soldiers were killed in an Iranian missile attack on an air base in Jordan. A third service member is missing, and unidentified remains were found on the base.

The next day, another U.S. service member was killed in northern Iraq during what the U.S. Central Command said was a “controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance” from a downed Iranian drone.
“We feel very badly” about the deaths, President Donald Trump said Sunday. “But you know those great patriots were out there fighting so that Iran does not have a nuclear weapon. Iran has been very badly damaged.”
Since the war in Iran began nearly five months ago, at least nine American service members have been killed in drone and missile strikes on air bases in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, as well as at a U.S. Army operations center in Kuwait. Six were killed when their refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq in March, and a sailor went missing and died after a helicopter made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea on July 1.
