In a radio interview, former president Donald Trump made clear he would seek the removal of Smith, who is pursuing federal cases on behalf of the Justice Department against Trump for allegedly conspiring to overturn the 2020 election and illegally hoarding classified documents. The latter case has been dismissed, but Smith is appealing.
