New Report

Across 107 Countries, People Say the Economy Is the Top Concern

The report finds:

  • Economic issues top the list globally: A median of 23% of adults name the economy as their country's most important issue.
  • Work concerns extend beyond unemployment, with job quality and the lack of good jobs also driving dissatisfaction.
  • Political and governance concerns rise where institutional trust is weak, especially in higher-income countries.
  • Safety and security eclipse all other priorities in countries affected by conflict or instability.

Together, the findings show that people judge national problems through personal experiences — whether they can afford to live well, find meaningful work, trust their leaders and feel safe.
