Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder provided the following readout:
Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III spoke with Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant today to discuss regional security developments. Secretary Austin reviewed U.S. force-posture adjustments, including the recent deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense system to reinforce Israel’s defenses in the face of threats from Iran, Lebanese Hizballah, and Iranian proxies. The Secretary also told Minister Gallant he was relieved Prime Minister Netanyahu was safe after the attack that reportedly targeted his home in Caesarea this morning.
