  No question about it, Kevin. Had Biden bowed out after the Dems' better-than-expected midterm performance and allowed a real Democratic primary to take place, perhaps the party's fate would have been different. The other question will be whether Harris should have done more to distance herself from Biden when so much of the country said the US is on the wrong track.

  It goes almost without saying that with Pennsylvania called for Trump, there is virtually no path for Harris to win. This was the state that always was going to be the linchpin of the election, and the state where Harris campaigned the most.

  There are two pickup opportunities remaining in Arizona, and several tight races in California where Dems can pick up seats. Whichever party is in charge will have a narrow majority.

  With the GOP retaking the Senate, let's check in on the race for the House majority. Dems need a net pick up of four to take the majority. Right now, they've lost three of their seats. But there's a lot of swing seats still uncalled.

  The next big election will be close on the horizon: For Senate majority leader. Senate GOP Whip John Thune and Sen. John Cornyn are the two leading contenders. Sen. Rick Scott, another candidate, is seen as a long-shot. Thune and Cornyn have ben working to build their ties to Trump. (Thune had been more critical of Trump.) So if Trump wins, it'll be interesting to see whether he tries to tip the scales.
