Zelensky’s Pushback Against Mainstream Media Panic Confirms US-Ukrainian Divisions

Zelensky’s Pushback Against Mainstream Media Panic Confirms US-Ukrainian Divisions

The US-led Western Mainstream Media is hyping up the scenario of a so-called Russian ‘invasion’, doing so with extra gusto nowadays precisely because Ukraine is no longer playing along with its very dangerous warmongering gamble.

Ukrainian President Zelensky powerfully pushed back against what he described as the “panic” being propagated by the US-led Western Mainstream Media concerning the speculative scenario of a so-called Russian “invasion” of his country. In his own words, “The image that mass media creates is that we have troops on the roads, we have mobilization, people are leaving for places. That’s not the case. We don’t need this panic.” This is an accurate depiction of the pernicious role being played by the US’ information warfare services in the current crisis and closely resembles what they’ve earlier done in Ethiopia.

ZalenskyThe comparison is imperfect but nevertheless insightful. Late last year, the US-led Western Mainstream Media falsely claimed that the Ethiopian capital was “surrounded” and “under siege” by the terrorist-designated TPLF. America even advised its citizens to flee the country as soon as possible. In response, Prime Minister Abiy announced the Great Ethiopian Homecoming to encourage the Ethiopian diaspora to return to their homeland during the holiday season, which many of them did. The US’ false infowar narrative was therefore nipped in the bud and powerfully debunked.

Something similar is currently occurring in Ukraine. The US-led Western Mainstream Media is hyping up the scenario of a so-called Russian “invasion”, doing so with extra gusto nowadays precisely because Ukraine is no longer playing along with its very dangerous warmongering gamble. President Zelensky nowadays fears that he’s become politically expendable to his American patrons, who he bravely defied by not only cultivating extremely close economic ties with China over the past year in spite of a US-provoked multibillion-dollar investment scandal, but also by condemning their latest fearmongering.

Friday’s scandal connected to the prior day’s phone call between the American and Ukrainian leaders confirmed the existence of a serious rift between those two allied nations. President Zelensky’s latest press conference adds further credence to that observation. Quite clearly, some in the US are trying to encourage Ukraine to provoke a third round of civil war hostilities in Donbass so as to prompt the Russian intervention that they’ve been fearmongering about. All of this is part of the anti-Russian “deep state” faction’s power play for recalibrating the US’ grand strategy away from China and towards Russia.

There are some crucial takeaways from these latest developments. First, the US always disposes of its proxies once they’ve served their political purpose or begin behaving too independently. Second, its “deep state” is fiercely divided between anti-Chinese and anti-Russian factions who are vying to determine whether their country prioritizes the “containment” of one or the other Great Power. Third, the outcome of this rivalry will be determined by whatever soon happens in Ukraine. Fourth, there’s a high possibility of an anti-Russian false flag in Donbass. And fifth, the situation is extremely dangerous.
