Israeli military says Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah is dead; militant group has not confirmed
The Shiite cleric was one of Israel’s archfoes for decades and led one of the most powerful militant groups in the region with backing from Iran. His death could sharply escalate the risks of a wider Middle East war nearly a year after Hamas’s deadly raid from Gaza touched off Israeli attacks that have claimed tens of thousands of lives.
