Readout of Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. Colin Kahl's Meeting With Estonian Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary Kusti Salm JAN. 26, 2023 Pentagon Spokesman Lt. Col. David Herndon provided the following readout: Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. Colin Kahl met with Estonian Ministry of Defense Permanent Secretary Kusti Salm here at the Pentagon on January 26. The leaders discussed efforts to strengthen defense cooperation and to advance shared interests and priorities, including NATO's deterrence and defense posture in the Baltic region. Under Secretary Kahl thanked Permanent Secretary Salm for Estonia's significant military assistance to Ukraine, particularly its latest package of aid that includes much-needed howitzers, ammunition, and anti-tank weapons. The leaders emphasized their steadfast commitment to Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
