Despite gaining supporters, McCarthy fails on 13th ballot in bid for House speaker

Republican leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) gained one vote, as Andy Harris (Md.) ended his opposition and backed the GOP nominee. But McCarthy fell short of achieving the majority of votes needed to claim the speakership.
