The tentative agreement by the European Union and a coalition of more than 100 developing countries could pave the way for a successful end to weeks of negotiations. Nations at COP27 in Egypt still have to negotiate other aspects of the conference’s final decision, which will also determine how ambitious countries have to be in their efforts to curb planet-warming emissions. Diplomats warn that some details are still undecided, and an impasse over one part of the text could doom the whole package. |
