Throughout 2025 and into the start of the new year, much of the world has been defined by a rapidly evolving and volatile geostrategic environment. With its increasingly global presence, critical role in European defense and energy security, and its proximity to the East Mediterranean and Black Sea, Türkiye increasingly shapes and is shaped by the surrounding region and its geopolitics, with growing relevance for both NATO and the European Union.
These changes come as 2026 promises to shine an international spotlight on Turkish foreign policy, especially as it is set to host the 2026 NATO Summit—a critical time for the Allies and European partners to chart a path forward amidst global political and security uncertainty. As Türkiye positions itself as key diplomatic player and security actor in the Middle East, Caucasus, Balkans and beyond, its regional role, trade linkages, defense capabilities, and reach are drawing increasing attention, presenting opportunities and implications for the United States, Europe and other partners, as well as for evolving regional alliances.
As the landscape evolves, so too have the US-Turkish and EU-Turkish relationships.
This event will examine how Türkiye’s foreign policy and transatlantic engagement are evolving to changing regional and global dynamics.
