United States intelligence services believe that an attack by the Islamic Republic against Israel may be imminent, according to a Wednesday report by Bloomberg.

U.S. sources told the news agency that they were not certain if the intrusion would be made from within the borders of Iran or by one of the country’s many regional proxy groups.

The article stated that Jerusalem agrees with the assessment and has been taking preventive measures to defend against any potential aggression, including security augmentation at their embassy properties around the world.

Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Israel Katz, responded to the information by posting, “If Iran attacks from its territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran” on his X account.

The threat has reportedly caused the Israeli military to pause ground operations in Gaza until the situation becomes more stable.

The possible Iran intervention comes as the regime has stepped up its retaliatory rhetoric against the Jewish state in response to last week’s suspected Israeli airstrike on their diplomatic compound in Damascus.

The attack interrupted a secret meeting between officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and members of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. Several high-ranking individuals were killed in the explosion, including the IRGC’s Syrian chief, Mohammad Zahedi.

Iran’s most senior military officer, Mohammad Bagheri, told mourners at the deceased’s funeral this week that the reaction to the event “will be decided by us, in a way that makes Israel regret what it did.”

The general’s statement was confirmed by two unnamed sources in Tehran, who told The New York Times that a decision had already been made to forcefully answer the incident.

President Joe Biden acknowledged the findings, telling reporters on Wednesday that Iran is "threatening to launch a significant attack on Israel" and that "our commitment to Israel's security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad."
