STRASBOURG, France – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has comfortably survived a rare double no-confidence vote in the European Parliament, fending off attacks from both the far right and far left that could have toppled her Commission.

On Thursday, the motions against her Commission fell decisively short of the required two-thirds majority, or the minimum 361 votes in favour. The far-right motion saw 378 MEPs vote against it, 179 in support, and 37 abstaining, while the far-left motion recorded 383 votes against, 133 in favour, and 78 abstentions.
