| | Trump: I won’t make Putin deal without Zelensky | Donald Trump said he would not make a deal with Vladimir Putin on peace in Ukraine without Volodymyr Zelensky.
Speaking to Fox News Radio, the US president said he thought Putin would make a deal but that it would not come until he met with the Ukrainian president.
“The second meeting is going to be very, very important, because that’s going to be a meeting where they make a deal. And I don’t want to use the word ‘divvy’ things up. But you know, to a certain extent, it’s not a bad term, okay?” Mr Trump told Fox News Radio.
European leaders have been warning the US president against making a deal without Ukraine and have said Mr Zelensky must be present for any future talks.
Mr Trump is meeting his Russian counterpart for talks at a US Air Force base in Alaska on Friday. Follow the live coverage here ➤
