MENA Programme Event Series Upcoming webinar Tunisia: The end of the democratic transition? THURSDAY 15 JUNE  | 13.00 - 14.45 BST ZOOM Event registration > The country’s once promising democratic transition seems to have lapsed into authoritarian restoration as rule of law institutions are eroded and cybercrime and counterterrorism laws wielded against regime critics and journalists. In addition, the country suffers from an economic crisis, and shortages of basic goods that are likely to worsen.  At this Zoom webinar, speakers explore where is Tunisia heading, amidst this multitude of crises.  The full event information and speaker lineup can be found here. Upcoming in-person event Yemen crisis: An end in sight? THURSDAY 22 JUNE  | 09.00 - 12.15 BST CHATHAM HOUSE Register interest > Agenda and speakers > Yemen’s civil war is now in its eighth year. The internal conflict and military confrontation between the Saudi Arabia-led coalition forces and the Houthi rebels has left millions of Yemenis in a dire humanitarian crisis. This half-day public event gathers Yemeni and international policymakers and experts at Chatham House to discuss the current state of affairs and evaluate the prospects for peace. This event is taking place in person at Chatham House only. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Upcoming hybrid event Libya since 2011: The contours of a new order MONDAY 3 JULY  | 09.30 - 13.00 BST ZOOM Register interest > Agenda and speakers > This half day event brings together leading scholars and analysts of Libya to analyse the foundations of Libya’s post-revolutionary order, examining how violence has remade the country and how new groups, networks and identities have formed through conflict. It will draw upon the findings from the presenters’ contributions to a newly released edited volume, Violence and Social Transformation in Libya. This event is taking place in person at Chatham House and virtually via Zoom. Spaces for in-person participation are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Past event The narcotics crisis in the Middle East Researchers and experts presented findings of a study into the captagon trade in the Middle East and the dynamics of narcotics supply in the region, the networks sustaining them, and the steps necessary to address the ensuing crisis.
